Heli Tuhkanen: Museum view
Franz is waiting for spring
In June you can see in Matinpalo Museum a cheetah in the dead of night and the Siberian moon
over the snow-clad city.
Heli was born in the North of Finland. Therefore her art carries plenty of northern motifs:
night, moonlight and a mystic, melancholic atmosphere. Could it be longing back to the North?
Although Heli Tuhkanen's artistic handwriting, naivism, might mislead the viewer into seeing something else,
her motifs can be like dreams of Sigmund Freud's patients, haunting and bare.
Sometimes just a wild boar on a table is enough to transmit the light and mood of night.
Franz just sleeps by his motorcycle.
There is snow in the painting - but in reality full summer outside Matinpalo Museum.
